Thanks, at Allyssa for sharing this photo. It is very important for parents to have a good relationship with their teachers.

Class Assessment and communication are important to let parents know what is going on in the classroom. Assessment is showing the students progress with their developmental milestones and academic skills of what they have learned. Parents and teachers need to work together and have open conversations and be partners to meet the needs of the individual child. Even though the textbook by Alan November does not have a chapter on parent communication and assessment I think it should explain how the student owns the learning in these categories. Conversations about the student are most important for parents and teachers to  discuss. The teacher's success with assessment depends on good parent relations at school. The parent-teacher conversation is important to have along with using the app is there is no replacement for conversation. My classroom issue is finding new ways to communicate with parents and also trying to catch attention to the busy classroom parent.

Here are the five keys to success in how to have clear communication with parents.

Five Keys to Successful Parent-Teacher Communication | Scholastic

The best way to avoid misunderstandings with parents is to have ongoing, clear lines of communication from the beginning. The more you keep them informed about classroom news and include them in school happenings, the more they'll feel like a part of the team. The end result?
Joyce Epstein has authored many books. She has many types of parent involvement ideas.

Reggio Emila has the approach that parents are partners in education. I found this blog interesting.

There are many apps out there that use communication with parents with using assessment such as:

  • Dojo Messenger
  • Bloomz
  • Parent Square
  • Seesaw
  • Bulb
  • Weebly
  • Sesame
  • Freshgrade

Later in this blog, I am going to demonstrate how you use the Reminder App and the Class Dojo app.

Here is a quote I found that caught my interest.

From:https://www.nwea.org/blog/2014/assessment-matters-students-perspective/

As an early childhood teacher, I have been trained to use various assessments such as Ages and Stages and Creative curriculum which is now called the TSGold.

Here are some photos of books and the TS Gold website below.

In my dream Kindergarten classroom, the students would be assessed with the Debiels assessment which tests fluency in reading such as demonstrating site words. I learned about the DEbiels test in my Foundations of reading Graduate class. Here is an example of how the test is performed.

Parents in a Kindergarten classroom could be communicated what the sight words are the student is learning.

I feel the class Dojo can use formative and summative assessment and I used the reminder app.

For this blog, I tried using ClassDojo app and the Reminder app to learn how parents and teachers could communicate and shoe a student's assessment. Here is a quote I found that caught my interest on formative and summative assessment.

Here is the demonstration of the class DoJo App.

ClassDojo - Apps on Google Play

Ready to build an amazing classroom community? ClassDojo is a beautiful, safe, and simple communication app for teachers, parents, and students.

Here is a Youtube video on how to ClassDojo on a growth mindset that a teacher can share with parents.

Here is the Youtube video to get started on how to Use Class Dojo.

This is a youtube video of what families see in class DoJo.

Here is an example of what the class looks like in the Class Do Jo app..

Here is how you would take attendance

Here is how you can introduce to parents of what happens in the classroom from class Do Joe App.

The teacher can share the Growth mindset video with parents to show what the student is learning from the class Doe Joe App.

The students would be assessed by using portfolios

Here is an example of trying as the teacher to organize the class Do Jo app.

This is saying what the students did today and could be in liu of a daily sheet.

Then you can invite the parent to see the work.

The class dojo ap can be part of global community and shared in many languages.

I used the reminder app to try out another way to communicate with parents.

Remind

Communication for the classroom, home, and everywhere in between. Remind is a communication platform that helps schools and districts reach and engage with their communities-and build the relationships that lead to better learning.
Here are photos of the way you could make a contact list and how you can write a welcome message to parents.

Ways to share the remind app link

I used gymnastics for an example for using the remind app but you could email or text the parent the link to join.

This year I'm using Remind to send updates about important class information.

You can enter a code.

In Young child Magazine 2014. I found an article called," Creating Family Learning Communities" A  quote  that caught my interest is, "Early Childhood Educators have long been recognized that 'the two most influential environments in which young children develop are their homes and their early childhood education programs.'" ( Halgunseth 2009,56).  Families and teachers need to know about each other cultures and interests to encourage their own learning.  " It is important for teachers to validate families as important resources for their children's learning.

The young child article also states that looking at privacy and equal access to technology are important before using photo- sharing websites such as:

I want to end with this quote.
