Class Assessment and communication are important to let parents know what is going on in the classroom. Assessment is showing the students progress with their developmental milestones and academic skills of what they have learned. Parents and teachers need to work together and have open conversations and be partners to meet the needs of the individual child. Even though the textbook by Alan November does not have a chapter on parent communication and assessment I think it should explain how the student owns the learning in these categories. Conversations about the student are most important for parents and teachers to  discuss. The teacher's success with assessment depends on good parent relations at school. The parent-teacher conversation is important to have along with using the app is there is no replacement for conversation. My classroom issue is finding new ways to communicate with parents and also trying to catch attention to the busy classroom parent.

In my dream Kindergarten classroom, the students would be assessed with the Debiels assessment which tests fluency in reading such as demonstrating site words. I learned about the DEbiels test in my Foundations of reading Graduate class. Here is an example of how the test is performed.

I feel the class Dojo can use formative and summative assessment and I used the reminder app.

In Young child Magazine 2014. I found an article called," Creating Family Learning Communities" A  quote  that caught my interest is, "Early Childhood Educators have long been recognized that 'the two most influential environments in which young children develop are their homes and their early childhood education programs.'" ( Halgunseth 2009,56).  Families and teachers need to know about each other cultures and interests to encourage their own learning.  " It is important for teachers to validate families as important resources for their children's learning.
